With over 15 years’ experience in videography, we efficiently produce, direct, film and edit stylish films and videos. Working as a director of photography, an independent filmmaker and freelance videographer, previous commissions have included brand films, documentaries, music videos and marketing promos. We are trained videographers with a natural talent for delivering a full video production service. Producing promotional content, short films and videos that reflect our diverse community. We have worked some fantastic local companies and national brands that have allowed us to develop our experience and skillset. Many of my our previous clients have provided written recommendations to thank us for my excellent final product. We have also worked closely with an extensive network of film and video production professionals when their specialist expertise is required.
Using a range of the latest 4k/8k cameras, we direct, film and edit scripted, event videography content, behind the scenes, live events, interviews and performances. With our extensive knowledge of filmmaking and pre-production, production and post-production processes, we also provide specialist advice and technical assistance to a range of clients.

It is important to have an initial plan of the type of video required. In the portfolio section, there is more information about some of the most popular choices as well as visual examples. Once a decision has been made on the type of videos required, we will be able to accurately quote our work. We prepare 100% bespoke budgets for each brief, tailored to your own individual project so you’re only paying for what you need. We’re happy to discuss how we can work to within your budget, and you’ll always receive an itemised cost breakdown from us for our videography service. It’s very hard for us to give a flat cost for a service that varies quite a lot in client needs. We can offer you a free quote however after a quick chat that will help you get a good indication of the cost however.
Black Castle Media are based in Edinburgh however our videographers regularly take us across Scotland and the whole UK. We can even accommodate if your project is outside of the UK.
At a bare minimum, we like to ensure that we have a detailed initial brief at the beginning of the project. This could take the form of a written brief, a phone call or a face to face meeting with one of our friendly Videographers. Essentially, you can be involved as much or as little as you like. It’s really up to you.
However, we are of course delighted when clients want to be more involved in the full production process, from scriptwriting and production through to even reviewing the edits. Our dedicated videographers will ensure that you are constantly kept abreast of the project’s progress, and have every chance to take a more hands-on involvement in the project, if you’d like to.
For the majority of video productions we typically ask for 30% as a minimum up front, then 70% on project completion, before any files are sent across. We will of course provide you with an opportunity to review the footage and the final video before we request final payment, which we believe is vital for a great client-company relationship.
With videography, we’re very firm on not handing our clients unexpected costs. If anything crops up during the production process that we haven’t discussed that we believe could be an additional cost, we’ll always discuss this with you before going ahead. All of our quotes are always itemised too, so you know exactly what you’re paying for at each stage of the process.
Yes, our videographer will absolutely help you to take take still images from your video to use elsewhere. However, if you have specific still image requirements, we recommend capturing dedicated photos on set for higher quality. We have a dedicated photographer that we can provide this service which will give you a much greater image quality than simply taking screenshots just from the video. This also a great way to get behind the scenes images from the set.
For event videos that require a speedy edit, we can turnaround the edit really quickly. Other projects like impressive promos with snazzy effects or longer-form documentaries require a bit more time in post-production.
We’ll make sure to clearly understand at the start of your project what outputs you expect, and what timeframe, so we can deliver what you need exactly when you need it.
This is typically comes at an additional cost. The cost for subtitling (whether that’s overlaid captions or separate SRT files) will be specified in the budget. Please ensure to ask about subtitling when briefing us about your video project.
We have videographers available to capture footage for you to edit yourself. We would typically provide you with hard copies of files in a flash drive as our files are very large and don’t lend themselves well to speedy transfers.
We can do this too. On videography projects where we edit the footage, we can also provide a package that includes the project files and also any raw footage if required. We typically charge a small additional fee for this service though to cover the additional time/resources required.
