fringe festival, gilded balloon & deputy APP
Corporate video production
One of our most recent video productions was with Australian-based app Deputy. Deputy were looking for a video production that would show a “frank and friendly behind the scenes look at the life of shift workers at the Edinburgh Fringe festival”. We rose to the challenge with one of our videographers, filming and editing two videos, one featuring Gilded Balloon staff members and the other with the Assembly team.
Although this was essentially a corporate video production, we wanted it to feel a bit more cheerful and warm to help align with the vibrant nature of the Edinburgh fringe festival.
ZERO WASTE SCOTLAND, CONSUMED TOUR
Videography for social media
This year Zero Waste Scotland partnered up with Edinburgh Science to create a travelling exhibition across the major cities in Scotland, helping to provide awareness to excess consumer waste along with solutions that the public can take to help reduce their waste.
Our videographer followed the tour around each city and spoke to members of the public, along with filming each installation and the surrounding location. We then edited a range of short social media marketing style videos for Zero Waste Scotland that were used on their social channels, along with an extended video for their Youtube page.

The Edinburgh Boiler Company approached us to create a marketing video to promote their expansion into solar panel installation services.
What we created, after careful consultation, was a client testimonial video that featured a glowing customer review alongside B-roll of a solar panel installation with EBC staff members.
The video has been highly successful since it launch as a means to create trust with new prospective solar panel customers and currently continues to feature in their marketing campaigns.

Black Castle Media is a video production service based in Edinburgh. The majority of our work remains within Edinburgh & the surrounding areas.
Our team of videographers frequently travel outside of Edinburgh though, so please don’t hesitate to let us know if you’re looking for something shot anywhere else in the UK.
Our videographers always shoot at a minimum of 4k resolution, even for social media productions even where it’s likely you’ll not require more than 1080p for mobile viewing. That gives you the best quality video production. We can push the envelope even further than this and shoot and output 8k resolutions on request for that super sharp pixel goodness.
Our standard terms for most video productions are payments in two instalments: 30% on confirmation of the job (non refundable deposit) and 70% on delivery. This allows us to get started on any production expenses straight away and spreads the cost for you.
Aerial, or drone videography is something we also provide. We have the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) “Permission for Commercial Operations” PfCO which means as a licensed commercial operator of UAV’s (unmanned aerial vehicles) we are governed and regulated by the CAA. The Civil Aviation PfCO is mandatory for anyone flying drones for commercial use in the UK. We also have A2 CofC and GVC permissions which became active in January 2021.Aerial footage is certainly an option on many video projects. Yes, we have an in-house photographer that we can provide for any supplementary photos on our video production services. This also works well if you’re looking to capture some high quality BTS (Behind the scenes) images or even still images of the frames we’re working on. Having our photographer snap up some great images of the videographers at work provides for great visual storytelling opportunities, particularly on social media.
All of our quotes are fully itemised, so you’re aware at proposal stage exactly what you’re paying for (and not paying for).
Additional services can be arranged during the video production process if, for example, you decide you would like another day of filming. But we guarantee that we will deliver the work as set out in the proposal for the costs agreed.
